My exploration of stitched imagery, paired with patterns created via shaped-resist dye processes, took a sudden turn once the coronavirus upended our lives. Using a variety of Shibori and embroidery techniques, I have been making 3-D houses to reflect our collective sheltering-in-place experiences and the wide range of emotions which have been so prevalent this past year. Many of these pieces include branches and dried flower stalks foraged from our woods and garden, representing the literal and figurative support nature has offered so many of us during this challenging time.
