Sheltering in Place

In the summer of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I was asked to participate in an exhibition that mused on the idea of sheltering-in-place. That initial piece opened the proverbial floodgates, leading to a series of 3-D houses that is ongoing. Using a variety of resist dye and embroidery techniques, this series began as a reflection upon our collective sheltering-in-place experiences and the wide range of emotions which became so prevalent as 2020 wore into 2021. It has since grown into a representation of home and of nature as shelter.
